Hasayn how often you manage to come home?

- I try to come home at the first opportunity. It turns out one-two time a half-year. But soul and thoughts I always in Chechnya.

Than you are engaged in Turkey?

- At present I am the head coach of Turkish national team on judo.

Finally you don't plan to come back home?

- It is natural that sometime I will finally come back home. But today my work in Turkey.

The popularity in Turkey you feel?

- Yes.

You remember the first victory?

- In a month after classes judo, I became the third on superiority of the republic. Then also there were first victories.

When there was a feeling, what you can achieve big heights in sports?

- Matter isn't that I understood it or felt. I had purpose, strong desire to become the best. I, naturally, couldn't know that I will become the Olympic champion. Simply I always wanted to win concrete wrestling, at concrete competitions.

What was your first powerful success?

- Being the Olympic champion, it is somehow frivolous to call the first serious success a victory at regional competitions. Though believe, those years victories even at such level were got in the rigid competition. But nevertheless the first serious achievement I will call victories in the youth championships of the USSR in 1990 and 1991, and right after it a victory on superiority of Europe among juniors in Finland.

You had crown receptions?

- As a whole I tried to master a wide range of receptions. But best of all hooks, pickup from within (Uchi Mata – this reception I won in the Olympic Games ending) were successful, is bright through the head with a subgarden a shin and some other.

When and how there was a decision to go to Turkey?

- The decision to leave arose in 1993 when I finally understood that before sports neither in Russia, nor in Chechnya anybody doesn't have business. That year I became the champion of Russia, but the big prospects connected with this victory, I didn't see. Turks made the proposal to act in their club championship to me in the same 1993 after the European championship in Athens where as a part of Russian national team I became the second. In addition other specific proposals weren't. It wasn't necessary so especially to choose.

Where and at whom trained in Turkey?

- As I didn't have that trainer. I changed couple of clubs. At first fought in Ankara, then in Istanbul. In 1995 I played for the club created by the mayor of Istanbul - Recep Tayyip Erdogan who became the Prime minister of Turkey later.

How there was a name Hussein Özcan?

- In my absence at paperwork, the Azerbaijani translator altered my name a little and entered a surname widespread in Turkey.

Whether there was in Turkey a surge in interest to judo after your victory on the Olympic Games?

- Naturally. Judo becomes more and more popular sport in Turkey. Now Turks along with wrestling and weightlifting give the children and on judo. Respectively, there is a wide range of applicants from whom it is possible to choose the perspective athlete. In the European championships the Turkish judoists won already two bronze medals that is undoubted success. There were successes and on the World Cup, at "Grand Slam" stages, on various international tournaments. It is a lot of, considering that in judo Turkey had before no achievements. So, progress is available.

Well you know the Turkish language?

- Normally.

When you are interviewed by the Turkish journalists - whether speech what you a sort of Chechnya comes?

- Comes. Both journalists, and inhabitants of Turkey perfectly know that I am Chechen. But for them that I with success protect honor of their country, instead of what I nationalities is more important.

The technique of trainings of judoists in Turkey differs from Russian (Soviet)?

- Differs, and it is strong. It is necessary to tell that judo in Turkey didn't develop before at all. And the Russian school of judo originates in sambo and national types of wrestling. Therefore technique of trainings of the Russian judoists more versatile. But interest to judo therefore, I think in recent years grows in Turkey, this difference will be erased.

Whether you remember the condition before the Olympic ending?

- Well I remember. If you mean, whether I worried – that it wasn't. There was a desire at any cost to take a revenge at Frenchman Benbudaud for defeat in the World Cup-99 ending. That is the Olympic Games ending, I didn't think at all.

Each athlete has a basic rival. Who was that for you?

- Larbi Benbudauda was such basic rival for me just also. I want to tell that it is very strong wrestler. We met it 4 times and the account of our opposition the equal. I won against it on victorious for myself the European championship of 1997 in Belgium. In a year besides in the European championship, it took from me a revenge. In the ending of the World Cup of 1999 in Birmingham the Frenchman managed to win against me. But our most important wrestling - in the ending of the Olympic tournament - was won by me, and having won a flawless victory.

Said, what the administration Argun wants to rename Melnichnaya Street your name?

- Yes, such decision was it seems made. Even any papers started collecting. But then all this somehow calmed down.

Why?

- I can't know it. The initiative proceeded, naturally, not from me, and not I have to go and find out why didn't call the street my name.

Your brightest victory was in the Olympic Games ending. What your annoying defeat was?

- In the ending of the World Cup of 1999.

When you left big-time sports?

- In 2004 on the eve of the Athenian Olympic Games on which I dreamed to act, I had a rupture of ligaments of the right knee. Me and before a trauma strongly disturbed, but after such serious - I decided to leave a tatami.

Whether you consider, what realized all the potential?

- I spent twenty two years on a tatami, won on many prestigious tournaments, including Olympic Games. I think that I realized all the opportunities.

Whether you watch events from the judo world?

- I watch without fail. And therefore that as the trainer has to be aware of all news and events and therefore that judo takes a lot of place in my soul.

How you estimate level of modern judo?

- For the last to couple of decades this sport as it is represented to me, made essential jump forward. Popularity of judo quickly grows in the world. Svyazanno it first of all with democratic character of this sport and with "not closeness". I mean that the countries leading in judo, aren't closed, and opposite, invite to joint collecting team from the countries where judo only starts developing. All this as a result goes on advantage.

You won on many tournaments. Offhand you can tell approximate quantity of the medals?

- I never considered them, but, I think, their quantity passed for hundred. From them about thirty medals of the highest level.

Where you store the sports awards?

- Early awards are stored in Argun, and won, playing for Turkey, I keep in the apartment in Istanbul.

With whom from athletes, Russian or Chechen, you communicate?

- I communicate with very many athletes. It is easier to tell with whom I don't communicate. I will call only names of judoists Salama Mezhidov, Jakub Shamilov and Adlan Bisultanova, Alikhan Ayubova. They too, as well as I, a sort from Argun. To me is about what to talk to brothers Saytiyevs, in particular to Adam: in the Olympic Sydney we together with it brought to the Chechen sports gold medals. I communicate with the head coach of the combined Chechen Republic on weightlifting by Aslambek Ediyev. We with it even studied together in our teacher's college. I too well know victors of the last Olympic Games of Arsene Galstyan, Mansur Isayev and Tagir Haybulayev. Mansura even somehow awarded long before the Olympic Games on one of tournaments.

At your look, thanks to what qualities you became the athlete of top-class?

- Since the childhood I helped the father about the house. It is possible therefore grew the quite strong. As tried thoroughly and to study equipment of judo thoughtfully. All this, certainly is important. But nevertheless I consider that diligence and my uncompromising character became my chief "assistants" in victories.

Your version of three best Chechen athletes for all the time.

- Well, Buvaysar Saytiyev's candidate isn't discussed. As the judoist I can't but call Bashir Varayev – the prize-winner of Olympic Games, the numerous prize-winner of the World Cups, the quadruple champion of Europe. And to the third I will deliver the quadruple world champion in free-style wrestling Salman Hasimikov .

Whom would you mark out, how played the greatest role in formation you as persons and how athlete?

- First of all that is my first trainer Ibrahim Ayubov who has brought up for the almost 40 years' trainer's career more than 50 masters of sports on judo and sambo. Also I want to mark out my cousin uncle Oumar Bisultanov. I remember how on one of my first trainings it – the known athlete by that moment - exclaimed: "Remember, before you the Olympic champion! ". To me for some reason these words strongly were engraved in the memory. Such things can't but stimulate

Tell about the family.

- Us parents had 9 children: four sons and five daughters. But, unfortunately, one my brother because of an illness didn't become. I am married. I have two children. 11-year-old daughter and 6-year-old son. Preceding your question, I will tell that the son I gave on gymnastics and that will be farther – life will show.

You can be considered as the successful person?

- If success consists in a good family, a great number of relatives and favourite work – that yes.

What you most of all appreciate in people?

- Decency, kindness, professionalism.
