Over 100 wrestlers from Aniva, Holmsk and Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk became participants of traditional XVI tournament on judo "A cup of the governor of the Sakhalin region", devoted to memory of I.P. Farkhutdinov .

These competitions, along with the area championship, are the most prestigious on Sakhalin therefore it isn't surprising that on a tatami of a gym of SDYuSShOR on Greco-Roman wrestling (to st. of Gorky, 7/1) left all color of island judo, among which masters and candidates for the master of sports, winners and prize-winners of the All-Russian and international competitions.
As told TIA "Islands" in the press center of the Sakhalin regional public organization "Judo and Sambo Federation", at opening ceremony with welcome speech the minister of sports of tourism and youth policy of the Sakhalin region addressed to participants Oleg Saitov. It reminded that judo in Russia is a presidential sport and wished to children to go to the purpose, despite of failures.
In the presence of the double Olympic champion judoists tried to show all variety of receptions and to please fans with beautiful wrestling. They managed it! Duels of men in weight to 100 kg appeared the most spectacular. Three "ippons" (flawless victory) brought a title of the sports strongest to the master to Igor Kardash. In 1998 far already it in the career rose for the first time by the top step of a podium. There was it on the I Cup of the governor. And now I.Kardash successfully speaks at the All-Russian competitions, is attracted in youth national team. Than not an example for imitation?
In weight to 66 kg the first place was taken by the skilled master of sports Alexander Kovalev. He by the way, won for the first time on the Cup of the governor in 1999. And, according to him, to stop on reached the wrestler doesn't gather. In category to 81 kg Shamsidin Amirshoyev took priority.
At young men 2002-2002 owners of gold medals were defined in 9 weight categories. And only in one of them the Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk judoists missed the first place. For a victory in weight to 46 kg the award was handed over to Yury Mashukov from Holmsk. Besides it an applause for a victory deserved Kurban Abyshkayev (to 26 kg), Nikita Andreenko (30), Gleb Zhuyko (34), Maxim Jan (38), Alexey Verkhoglyadov (42), Artem Myakota (50), Ilya Kazantsev (55), Ilya Leshchuk (over 55 kg). Appreciation of experts were awarded Maxim Jan and Alexey Verkhoglyadov, already in time to declare themselves not only on regional, but also Far East level. Let's hope that their main victories still ahead!
In competitions of young men 1999-2000 all gold was won by judoists from the regional center. With technical wrestling Vladimir Malyshev (38 kg), Vladislav Lim (42 kg), Dmitry Kochetkov (46 kg), Simen Nidzelsky (50 kg), Victor Shargorodsky (55 kg), Ilya Grinev (60 kg), Alexey Kalinin (73 kg) and Andrey Mironchuk (over 73 kg) pleased the trainers.
Summing up competitions, the president of SROO "Judo and Sambo Federation" Alexandr Kardash noted: "It is a pity that from Aniva there arrived only 2 wrestlers, and from Korsakov – any. Trainers of these municipalities deprived of pupils of opportunity to check themselves at official level, to be overcome in a big hall in the presence of fans, to see the Olympic champion. And still tournament was successful."
