This tournament on free-style wrestling has old and rich story. It arose in far 1978, among his first winners there was a head coach of Russian national team Mahomed Guseynov and his assistant Mairbek Yusupov, and also Isak Irbaykhanov who for ten years worked from Turkish national team. These competitions became a launch pad for many Khasavyurt wrestlers who in the subsequent glorified the city on the most prestigious competitions, including Olympic Games, the World Cups and Europe.

Based tournament and all these years the deserved trainer of Russia Alikhan Dzhamaldinov directs its organization and carrying out. Competitions of young wrestlers take place on the basis of sports boarding school "Spartak" which also  founded and stretch this active person heads. In the first day of tournament, on May 9, Alikhan Alimsheykhovich was 67 years old, he was congratulated, gave him gifts, and mayor Arslan Arslanov handed over it the medal "For Merits in front of Khasavyurt". The birthday man also acted as the donator, at tournament opening it handed over a saber of the Dagestan masters to the instructor, the deserved trainer of the USSR from Chechnya Degi Bagayeva. Other guests to whom will remind of stay in the Northern capital of Dagestan the souvenirs presented by it by the hospitable owner of tournament didn't remain unattended also.

16 teams arrived on the 35th tournament to Khasavyurt, ten of them represented the countries of the foreign and neighboring countries. And some delegations, in particular, from Turkey, Bulgaria and Germany, exposed leading juniors. In total dispute for awards in eight categories among juniors and in three among young men was conducted by 173 freestylers. Some results of competitions were quite unexpected. So, for the first time for all history of tournament the foreign team surpassed owners in quantity of the won gold medals. The Turkish juniors who took priority in four categories from eight achieved this success. The wrestler got one more "gold" from Bulgaria, and in other three scales, and also in three categories among young men the Dagestan wrestlers became winners.
