The Dagestan wrestler brought to the national team of Serbia a bronze medal

Native of Makhachkala Zaur Efendiyev became the bronze prize-winner of the Mediterranean games passing in Turkey.

These multisports competitions to participation of athletes of the Mediterranean countries of three continents of Europe, Asia and Africa are carried out since 1951 with the same frequency, as well as the Olympic Games. The Turkish Mersin became a venue of present, 17th Games. Representatives of 30 sports gathered in this seaside city. Today, on June 26, in Mersin the wrestling program of Games came to the end with duels of wrestlers. As well as it was supposed, in this discipline the Turkish athletes undividedly dominated. In three styles of wrestling owners won in total 19 medals, from them – 14 highest tests. Six gold awards from seven Turks got in competition of wrestlers.

The only Dagestan wrestler speaking at Games, Zaur Efendiyev was content with a bronze medal in category to 74 kg. Competitions took place by old rules. In the first circle the Dagestan legionary of the national team of Serbia coped with Macedonian Vrenezi (2:0, 3:2), then in a semi-final conceded to Egyptian Ahmed (7:1, 1:2, 4:4) and the consolatory ending won on a touch of Lebanese Shibani.

Games in Mersin will come to the end on June 30. In an all-team competition in three days prior to the end of Games with a big separation the integrated Italian national team (44 gold medals, 38 silver, 43 bronze) is in the lead. It is followed by owners (27-24-24), and the team of France (19-16-28) closes the three of leaders.
