- Alexander, thanks to the sports feats you became for children an idol. Many of them any more don't represent the life without judo. How often you organize for them master classes?

- I arrange similar meetings regularly both in native Moscow, and in other cities of the country. I do it in order that they saw me not only on a TV set, during the next World Cup, but also, as they say, alive. After such communication children start understanding that I not descended from an icon sacred, and too sweat on trainings. Persistence and work - the main pledge of brilliant victories on a tatami. Always I try to inform to guys and little girls such thought. I think, and in Murmansk I managed it.

- What the Olympic medal with itself didn't take?

- Alas, my omission. Simply I left it at home. It just confirmation of that I not in heavens live, and on the earth. If suddenly again it is necessary to arrive to Murmansk, I will surely bring an award with myself to show to children.

- You arrived to us by the invitation of regional federation of judo. How, in your opinion, affairs with this sport in the Polar region are?

- Certainly, your city in this plan isn't the leader, as, for example, Moscow, St. Petersburg or Chelyabinsk. Remoteness of Murmansk from the central part of the country, and also a condition of Far North affects. For this reason much attention in the region is paid to development of winter sports.

However judo is in the Polar region at all on boondocks. The qualified trainers knowing the business in all subtleties work with children. Children are well prepared, a lot of things know and can. It was pleasant to see burning eyes of young northerners. Means, mentors managed to carry away them! And that Marina Morozova who now serves in Murmansk police, became in the 2007th champion of Russia, speaks about much. I with it well a sign as at one time we together supported a national team. She, by the way, also became the author of idea to invite me.

- Tell about how your way to big-time sports began.

- At first I was engaged in basketball. At school where studied, the children's section into which I was brought by the father worked. But in a year it closed. Soon from friends in the yard I learned that at the next school there is a Sambo-70 club. I then was nine years old. I descended for the sake of interest on training, it was pleasant, here and I became at first the sambo wrestler. I devoted four years to this wrestling and even I won on the All-Russian youthful superiority. Parents, seeing my interest, even transferred me to that school where it was more convenient to combine study with sports. Later there was a judo office. I liked very much a kimono. The prospect to make a speech sometime at the Olympic Games also attracted, and in the ninth class smoothly switched over to this single combat. The choice was correct.

- Many known athletes have achievements which become for them sign. It becomes frequent the permit in big-time sports a victory on any large All-Russian or international tournament. In your life there was such step?

- Probably, I will express haughtily, but to me always was without difference, where, when and with whom to struggle. I since the childhood of accustomed not to focus attention on ranks and titles of rivals and to consider successful only those performances which brought me a gold medal. Into big-time sports I was brought not by large tournaments on which both I won, and suffered a defeat, and aspiration always and everywhere to be the first.

- You confirmed four times that you are the strongest superheavyweight on a planet, however in the Olympic Games took part only once.

- Yes, unfortunately, I went to Games only from the fourth attempt. Alas, so there were circumstances. It was necessary to pass the Olympic Games in Sydney, Athens and Beijing. The trainer's staff for some reason considered that I am ready to them insufficiently. But I always had a huge desire there to go. As a result I achieved the.

- Admirers of sports watched closely performances of the Russian judoists in London. In a final duel the young ambitious French wrestler Teddie Rener to whom you conceded became your rival. What didn't allow to overcome it?

- Now, looking back, I understand that it was necessary to work more resolutely. And I was very cautious, thinking only of that, as though not to be mistaken, after all it there were my first Olympic Games. Generally, I enslaved myself. And if showed activity and I went for broke, quite I could break a situation in own favor.

- After that you told that you won't leave big-time sports, yet you won't get a gold Olympic medal. Already, probably, you prepare for the following Games in Rio de Janeiro?

- Everything will show the World Cup which this year will take place in Chelyabinsk. Now as a part of the national team I prepare for it. The decision will depend on a physical state, and also result also, to finish or continue career. Two years ago you from me wouldn't hear these words. But recently old injuries continually remind of themselves. Whatever one may do, sooner or later it is necessary to leave sports. And the Chelyabinsk world championship just makes a half of the Olympic cycle.That also will show, how many still to gunpowder in powder flasks remained.

- It became now fashionable to invite foreign trainers to Russia. Italian Ezio Gamba works now with a national team. What about it you will tell as about the expert?

- Result of the London Olympic Games at which the men's domestic team made furor, having won three "gold", "silver" and "bronze", speaks for itself. - You have two daughters and two sons, they too play sports?

-  I understand at what you drive.  Younger still while rather early, and here senior, Yana, long time was engaged in tennis.  I won't hide, I liked her hobby, but I didn't demand from it good results.  Certainly, I will involve in sports and younger children.  Probably, someone from them even will want to go on my feet, however doesn't intend to interfere with their destiny.  If they decide that to them there is expensive, let it become their conscious choice, instead of imposed by me.
